In February 2012 Oxfordshire County Council’s cabinet approved a paper which proposed that all Oxfordshire schools be encouraged to consider academy status. This represents the greatest restructuring that our schools have ever seen – on a par with the decision to move to comprehensive schools in the 1970s and close Oxford’s middle schools in the 1990s.
